The Board of Trustees is responsible for determining the investment direction of the Plan assets with the assistance of their professional consultants. The Board regularly review the investments and all investments are made in accordance with the regulations administered by Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
As part of the Plan’s governance, the Board of Trustees established a Statement of Investment Policy and Procedures (SIPP) which provides for the policies and procedures for the Plan’s investment portfolio. Information on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and how these factors are incorporated into the Plan’s investment policies and procedures are defined in the SIPP.

Alternatively, a Plan member may provide a written request to either office for a copy of the current SIPP (either by mail or electronically). A fee may apply when requesting a copy of the SIPP.
The Board of Trustees of the UNITE HERE Pension Plan has the right to amend or to wind up the Pension Plan.

These benefits are not guaranteed by the Ontario Pension Benefits Guarantee Fund. If, on wind up of the plan, plan assets are not sufficient to meet plan liabilities, pension benefits may be reduced.
